TJ’s Fleet Manager and CPC Trainer, Lee Downer has been awarded Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
This achievement illustrates the extensive knowledge and experience Lee holds and is able to pass onto TJ’s drivers – and any external drivers that choose to undertake their CPC training with us.
Our Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) driver training courses are open to all commercial drivers in Hampshire, West Sussex and the surrounding areas, so if you or your company has a need for this training, please get in touch to find out more.
To gain this Chartered Membership, Lee had to apply to CILT, submitting his CV and a professional development plan detailing his career plans for the next two years.
Lee said:
“CILT’s governing body meet monthly to consider memberships and the fact that I was awarded chartered membership based on my extensive experience is great. I’m pleased to have my many years of experience recognised in this way and it’s great to let those considering using TJ for their CPC training know that I now have this official link with CILT to draw upon.”
Lee gained his CPC trainer qualification back in February 2012 and went onto secure approved training centre status for TJ soon after.
This has meant that over the past nine years, it has been possible for all CPC training to be carried out on-site by Lee rather than our drivers having to go off-site and complete separate training programmes elsewhere.
Lee is a knowledgeable and skilled trainer; in 2019, he facilitated the successful completion of essential CPC training for every TJ driver in order to meet a company-wide refresher deadline. He also facilitates a range of other driver training to ensure exceptional driver performance is maintained.
CPC compliance is compulsory for all commercial HGV drivers; they must undertake 35 hours of training every five years in order to maintain their DQC card.
This training consists of a variety of topics over five courses:
These sessions kick off with registration at 06:45 for a 07:00 start and finishing at 15:00. Each session costs £65 per head, plus an upload fee. Free hot and cold refreshments available.
Lee has also been nominated to become TJ’s Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser. Any company that delivers or moves hazardous waste must have someone in this position to advise clients. Lee will be taking an exam in the summer to confirm his knowledge in this area, and upon successful completion, he will be fully qualified to advise on hazardous waste transportation.
