Ours is a name that is well known in the southern region and beyond; our distinctive lorries stand out on the road and our excellent reputation precedes us. Over the 29 years we’ve been operating, we’ve built up many strong partnerships across a number of industries and we’re continuing to develop and grow year on year.
TJ Transport is part of TJ Group, with the other part being TJ Waste, the waste management arm of the company. We operate from TJ’s HQ in Fareham, Hampshire, with depots in Bristol and Shoreham. The Bristol depot serves the south west, including Bristol, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. The Shoreham depot serves Sussex and parts of Surrey, Kent and Greater London in line with demand.
OUR SERVICES
We offer a range of services to the domestic, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure and golf sectors. These include:
OUR QUARRIES
TJ Transport also owns two quarries; a sand and gravel quarry at Hythe, Southampton, and a chalk quarry at Butser near Petersfield. The quarries enable us to source several of our own aggregates for clients, and these aggregates are utilised for a range of purposes, including construction, groundworks and agriculture.
In addition to quarrying chalk at Butser, it is also the location of our recycled aggregate production. We welcome deposits of rubble – including hardcore, concrete, bricks and asphalt – from construction companies, contractors and those in the building industry, which we then use to make our own recycled bulk fill aggregate called iBlend.
Rubble tipping is free of charge – simply bring your hardcore waste along to Butser Quarry, which is located on the A3 at Petersfield, GU31 5SP. We’re open 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday. You must hold a waste carrier’s licence and be wearing a hard hat, hi-vis top and steel toed boots to ensure your safety.

Our vehicles are our crowning glory and we take great care in ensuring every aspect of our fleet is immaculate. We run a continuous renewal scheme and our drivers conduct daily checks to ensure safety.
Quality provision
Everything we do is driven by quality, from the customer service we provide and the vehicles we use, to the aggregates we supply and the jobs we complete on your behalf.
Safety first
We take health and safety very seriously and we have a dedicated compliance department to ensure safety standards are met.
Technical advice from industry experts
Our staff are knowledgeable and experienced so if customers are in need of a little advice, we’re here to help. Whether it’s talking you through different types of aggregates and their usage or estimating haulage volumes, we’re happy to share our knowledge.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS
As part of our duty of care, it is our intention to reduce our carbon footprint by signing up to a carbon credit scheme to offset our usage. It is likely that we will enter into a commitment to plant a tree for every 100 tonnes of aggregate we sell.
Using technology to decrease our carbon footprint
Our customised IT system, Fissara Move, can be utilised on the move, via Samsung Galaxy tablet devices, which has improved communication between our drivers and office staff. This improved two-way communication has enabled us to lower our carbon emissions as office staff are able to route our drivers more accurately, resulting in fewer wasted miles.
Efficient fleet
Our entire fleet is on a rolling renewal scheme, which means our vehicles are always modern and well-maintained. It’s a fact that newer vehicles are more efficient and produce lower emissions; this is something that we take seriously and that we’re very mindful of.
Recycled aggregates
We utilise recycled aggregates wherever we can, substituting primary materials for the recycled equivalent when appropriate and when supply allows. We invite commercial third parties to dispose of their rubble at our Butser Quarry and it is this, along with rubble and hardcore from our own projects, that we use to make our recycled aggregate iBlend. This not only provides a readily available aggregate for bulk fill, but it also diverts hardcore and rubble from landfill, where it might otherwise end up.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
As a company, we like to give a little something back to the local community, whether that’s by donating our products and services to worthy causes, or fundraising for charities. In recent years we’ve provided a range of support including:
- Donating rock chalk to Butser Ancient Farm at their request for use during visits from local schools as well as to lay as flooring in some of their ancient reconstructed buildings. The most recent donation was 30 tonnes.
- Donating 10 tonnes of specialist gravel to pave footpaths in Warren Copse in Fawley, Hampshire.
- Donating 50 tonnes of self-binding path gravel to enable Minstead Trust’s car park to be improved and extended. The Trust provides training and support for people with learning disabilities.
- Our Commercial and Operations Manager Paul Smith ran the Virgin Money London Marathon 2021 to raise money for Wessex Heartbeat.
